When to take HPT?

I would bring him--at eight weeks I think I recall us seeing the heart beating--it was pretty cool. Also, it's a long appointment where they go over a lot of things on pregnancy so it would be good for him to hear it as well. Congrats!!

I agree hubby should go. Not just for the sonogram, but also because parents' medical history is important and may influence what kind of early testing you'll have. It would be good to talk to both sets of parents too about medical history before going. It's a longer visit and can be an important one.

I disagree that the hubby should go. I think you need to call up your OB and find out what they do in the first appointment. At my practice they take a family history (so make sure you know hubbies or tell him to be available by phone if necessary). They also do an internal exam...and wrote me a prescription for lab work. They DO NOT however do an ultrasound. If they DID do an ultrasound, you better believe my hubby would be there.

When pregnant with my first I asked my husband to come to my 12 week exam (when they searched for the heartbeat with the doppler - that way if they couldn't find it I'd have more support), my 18 week ultrasound, and then all appointments in 3rd trimester.

I'm pregnant again and I'm not having him come to my appointments unless I'm planning on discussing something with the doctor.
