I was not thrilled with them. When we went the dentist kept getting up and bouncing between patients. Everyone was in one large room. No privacy. Asked some very personal questions with other paitents next to us who every time she got up questioned me. It was very uncomfortable. They also just looked for the exam and never cleaned my childs teeth.

I don't know who you saw there, but we are in a room absolutely by ourselves, and the dentist is with us the entire time, and sees no one else. Are you explicit that you have an SN child who is disabled?

We see Dr. Lewis.

We saw the younger female dentist. I was very clear regarding my son's autism diagnosis. I don't consider him disabled.

NP. We tried that practice. Walked out of first visit. Extremely chaotic when we were there. Not sure if that was a bad day or the norm. Didn't bother trying to find out.

+1. I do not consider my child disabled. He has special needs many of which thankfully he is outgrowing. At the time we did not know fully he was special needs but either way an big open office is not the best situation for anyone, especially a young child. They asked a lot of birth questions, family history and lifestyle questions, that we're all appropiate but not for others to hear. We are very open about the situation but it was hard when the dentist was not fully focused on my chikd and each time she waked away we got questioned by the patient next to us who was much older and special needs (so they did not realize they were inappropiate).

With Dr. K, I mentioned the delays to the staff the first time but and because of his age, we saw him and he cleaned the first few times. I liked they did not treat him any differently. Then, two times ago we tried the hygienist and it was a disaster. My son freaked out and Dr K imediately came running and I held him while he did a very quick cleaning and sealing. Last time was amazing. My child sat in the chair and cooperated. The hygienists made it fun and he loved it. He keeps asking to go back. Dr K then did the sealants and exam. You are always in a private area or room and they do not overbook so there are plenty for staff to patient ratio (the hygienist had a helper which I have never seen before). They also take some, not all insurances. Our old insurance covered two appointments a year but only one sealant so we had to pay only for the second one. We just switched insurances and I do not think they accept the new one but it is worth paying more for them. They have parking for free in a lot behind the office.

We do too and they are quite good. Although I will say that my highly anxious NT (or maybe mostly NT) child was in a panic from the screaming coming from a group of SN adults they were serving at the same time they were attempting to extract a tooth from an autistic child. As much as I hate to, I ask what they have on the books when I book my appointment. I explain the situation and they are very accommodating.

We use Dr Thomas Orlando in North Bethesda by Balducis.

Dr. Ben Liu

His practice is small, has TV in the waiting room and also right above the dental chair!
We were the only patient there, didn't have to wait at all.

Thanks for all of the responses. For the Hornstein (or any of them), have you ever had sedation? I can't even get my kid through the door. He literally freezes. At this point, I think we may need to give him Valium just to get through the door but we've been struggling with that decision. any thoughts?

Same. We had an 845 appt for my son's first check up. He has HFA. They kept us waiting for an hour, put him in a loud room and then wanted to restrain him when he wouldn't cooperate. We go to Dr. Kuwabara now in friendship heights and have had a wonderful experience.

That is who we changed to too. I did have to hold my son the first few visits but this last time he loved it and keeps asking to go back.

Used to go to Dr. Morganstein, whose practice became Ensor, Johnson, and Lewis. It was just not the same. Very aggressive treatment, and just did not seem as thoughtful as before. We left also, switched to Roya Pilcher, who has been great.

Love her.
