Dc birth doulas - Sara Baum, Amy Ard, and Sarah Paksima

I'm using them (due April 4) and so far have been really impressed. They've been extremely attentive and reached out to me proactively about scheduling our prenatal visit. We'll see how it goes, but they seem lovely and so far I'm very happy with my decision!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Amy Ard. She was my doula when I gave birth for the first time two years ago. The birth was pretty straight-forward, but she really helped to keep the stress at bay, she did amazing things to relieve the pain in my lower back during labor, and she was just a nice and calming presence to have in the room. Can't say enough great things about her. I met Sara Baum at one of their meet and greets. Can't say anything about her from experience since she wasn't the doula "on call" the day I went into labor, but I would have been happy to have had her as a doula as well.

Good luck and congrats!

Actually their site says they charge $1250 now. I wonder why the increase?

The most important thing when hiring a doula is finding somebody that you like and that your partner likes and that you feel comfortable and confident in going into labor with. The experienced doulas cost more but honestly a less experienced doula would be fine too if you click with them! My doula was still working toward her certification when I hired her for my first birth, and I can't gush enough about how amazing she was.

It's been a year and it could be they're more booked up now.

We're using them, and delighted so far.
