| How can we get more bats? I HATE the mosquitos and dread them coming back. I grew up in south florida and mosquitos weren't an issue due to spraying, but there it's more of a public health concern. |

bats don't do anything that's a myth http://www-rci.rutgers.edu/~insects/proprom.htm |

Spraying insecticides is the only effective method of controlling adult mosquitoes.

Actually, according to your link, which it seems you didn't bother to read, the no. 1 way to battle mosquitoes is to find and eliminate breeding sites. The no. 2 thing they mention is something I mentioned in a previous post BTI dunks and pellets, which kill mosquito larvae and are not harmful to other wildlife. Spraying is the final suggestion. But go ahead and spray indiscriminately. Poisoning the Chesapeake Bay is no big deal, right? |

Pyrethrins (what most mosquito companies use) have been linked to autism.
Pyrethrin use has been booming lately, and autism rates are getting higher. No way I would spray that toxic crap all over my property. |
Complete myth, did you get vaccinated? |
|
What a bunch of idiots. Say no to spraying poison, people. Show some brains. |

i'm more worried about the loss of bees (which we need for pollination) than west nile:

Just like autism peaked after vaccinations increased? Thanks for your wacky Jenny McCarthy science. You can move along now to wingbat territory. |
| ^^ Until the REAL cause of autism is identified, EVERYTHING will contribute to autism. |
I know someone who uses insecticides AND has a bat house. #stupidf*ck |
If it's wet enough for mosquitos to breed in, it's not a compost pile. It's a rotting pile. |
Very true. My compost pile doesn't breed mosquitoes...I keep it moist like a limply wrung out sponge. |
