I did the shots myself (yes, even in the butt while looking backwards) and I found them to be much easier and cleaner than suppositories ... and over quickly! When given the choice, I chose to "stick with" the shots. I didn't want to insert the suppositories at work or feel any leakage during the day (yuck).

| can anyone comment on the timeline? How long it takes? I would like to do this in March/April but I have a trip planned for April 15 so I suppose I would need to be done with it before then. (unless I can travel in the middle of it) |
You would have to contact them and ask. The reason for BCPs and the length of time you are on them depends on the availability at their lab. Being done by April 15 seems reasonable, but who knows if they'll want to repeat tests or do more paperwork, etc. |

8:13-- if you've had all your testing and don't need to so an EPP cycle (practice estrogen IM shots to see how you lining reacts) then it should take about 2 months.
You'll be put on BCP for a few weeks, then you start you FET cycle month. |
| I just had SGF send me a FET protocol and there are not injections involved. Both the estrace and endometrin are used and both vaginally. It also looks like BCP can be used for more than 21 days since the protocol did state 1-2 packs. |
So helpful! Thanks! |

Here is the rest of the info. I posted from work today so I was not able to copy the information from the email.
(noninjection, vaginal Estrace) Medications Needed: Birth Control Pills – 21 day pack (1 – 2 packs) Prenatal Vitamins: 1 daily Estrace (2 mg): insert one tablet vaginally twice a day as directed (#120 tablets) Endometrin vaginal inserts: insert vaginally three times a day (#40) OR Crinone 8%: one applicator vaginally twice a day (#36) It looks like day 2 blood work after the bcp. Then 13 days of estrace and ultrasound to check lining. Start endometrin and transfer on day 3 (3 day embryo) or day 5 (blast). My guess is they have several versions of FET protocols but this is the one sent to me today. I am probably going to be doing a FET in the near future so I was curious to know what we were looking at for time/protocol. |
thnks so much. this is super helpful. I have a consultation this coming week. I imagine i would not be able to start the bcps till the end of this month, so i guess that would put me at the end of march possibly if they can do that? |
| does anyone know what the out of pocket FET cost is at shady grove? I've heard $4500. is that right? And is that with or without the cost of drugs? |
| Has anyone had to take aspirin or steroids as part of their FET protocol? |
correct, without drugs. However drugs are much less than during a fresh IVF cycle, since there is no need to stimulate your ovaries. |
| OP here-- so I got my schedule of protocol from SG. I have done an FET before with a different clinic. At my old clinic, I had to come in for monitoring every 3rd day. My SG FET protocol only has me coming in for monitoring twice- once for baseline and then another about 2 weeks later. Is this usual? |
| This is my first FET with SGF but I go in on Sunday then not again for 15 days to check the lining. Looks like it is a fairly standard practice for them. |
| I did DE, but similar to FET. I only went on day 3 and a lining check on day 14 or 15. It was so easy compared to an IVF cycle I felt like I was cheating LOL |
