Ivory/beige shag rug in living room crazy idea for family with young kids?

Anonymous
OP here. Just read this. I'm kind of stumped. If I want to buy another rug in a couple of years my husband will think I'm insane. It's not an off limit room. We live in a ranch (with a finished attic playroom) so this one small living area is it as far as downstairs living areas go. You open the front door and there's the living room, although you would not be stepping directly onto the (polyproplene) rug. And like a PP said, I think I would go with more of the beige (different strands) not pure ivory.

I have a suggestion - on sale too! Beige with subtle detail.

We have this one and it's both soft and durable. It's low pile so nowhere for toys to hide.

I have the largest sized one under my bed and it gives us a soft place to lay our feet in the mornings. It's nearly 3 years old and looks new even after being a location for my son's playing back when it was in our living room.

I just bought a smaller one for my son's room. Highly recommend!

PP, OP here. I really like that one! I wish Target's website wasn't so crappy so I could get a better look. Thanks for the recommendation. At first when I saw chevron I thought it was going to be a big, obvious chevron pattern but I think it is more subtle, right?

We have this exact rug in a high traffic area in the bedroom and it has not held up well. Lost all its plushness and just looks unkempt and shaggy after a year.

Try these in beige or white from Crate and Barrell. We have the white one in our living room where our kids play and it still looks great.

Just google "threshold chevron rug" and look at the image results to get a better view. It's beige on beige chevron, like herringbone almost. Super subtle but still a nice detail. I think ours has lasted well because it is low pile.
