Doing Away with Cable - What do you have?

We live in Loudoun county with basic cable (plus HBO) and basic internet. It's $55 a month.

Where do you live and do you have enough bandwidth for streaming properly?

I have a Roku box (about $35?) and stream through Amazon. I used to stream through Netflix, too, but found I wasn't watching it much, so let that lapse.

It's been a year! I have apple tv and a digital antenna and also netflix. Enough. and I watch tv less.

Buy a modem!! You are paying $96/year to rent a modem from Comcast.

You can get Verizon internet in Alexandria (I have it and I live there), and just pay the internet fees, no router charge.

I use a 20 antenna from Target for local and network channels (and a lot of foreign language programming).

I have Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime accounts.

I watch those on the TV via the Wii, or hook up laptop w/a HDMI cable, depending on which room I'm in. Sometimes I just watch on my laptop or Kindle Fire.
