Can non-DC families attend DC charter/magnet schools?

PP is right about openings at charters with language requirements that not enough DC children can meet.

Also some of the start-up charters aren't fully enrolled. I that case they are grateful for additional kids, especially kids who for sure want to be there (or their parents want them to be there).

I'm neither the enraged nor outraged PP. I am a charter school parent, and I suggest you contact the school directly and ask them about the particular grade you're interested in. Even some of the popular schools may have an opening for one reason or another. Some of them may have language requirements that not enough local children can meet (I'm thinking of the older grades at LAMB, Washington Latin and Washington Yu Ying). Anyway, you won't know unless you ask. Good luck.

The charter schools should do more to recruit locally, rather than opening themselves up to tuition-paying MD/VA students. There are plenty of Chinese and Spanish-speaking kids in this city, if Yu Ying and LAMB cared to recruit them.
