Ever notice how people without kids look more relaxed?

Hey may not be. I'm just talking about how they *look*.

Yeah, but as they get older and realize they're going to die alone without leaving any sort of legacy or family, the serenity gives way to sheer panic and depression.

I thought so too but studies show the opposite is true.

100 years from now all new people. Your legacy is your children. Parents your kids are your legacy. Nothing against people that don't have kids, but I know my parents are thrilled to have a big thanskgiving dinner surrounded by all their grandkids.

They do look more relaxed and rightfully so.
But then again, I didn't decide to have kids to make me more relaxed or happier. We wanted a family. So all the disruptions are worth it to us.

Keep trying to convince yourself that "it's all worth it."

Seriously. I have 9 nieces and nephews. Plenty of family. No stress.

Why are you on a parenting site?

The kid forced socializing and the kid activities and all the school things you do not control male parents more stressed than non parents. Childfree people make their own world and live in it.

NP. Are your nieces and nephews going to take care of you in your old age, on top of their own parents? I wouldn't count on it.

You shouldn't count on your kids taking care of you in your old age. It would be nice, but there are no guarantees. Hey, you might outlive your kid(s). There are old people taking care of their adult kids and their grandkids. You never know how life is going to turn out.

My 50 year old sister is showing no signs of panic and depression. She was always an ornery witch even in her youth. She spends a lot of time travelling in her free time and enjoys it very much. I just don't see the desperation that you proclaim should appear.

Not to mention your condescending "holier than thou" attitude... your kids may well tell you to fend for yourself when the time comes... !

You had kids so you'd be taken of in your old age = good luck with that.

Some adults are able to take care of themselves, plan for the future, all without having had kids. I know, crazy but true.

I think it's that they get more sleep and they aren't wiping butts all day long.
