| PP here whose son had side effects for the first week and then again for a week after a dosage increase. I don't stop on the weekend or the summer. On occasion, my son will ask to skip a day, but invariably two things happen: the day is awful and he ends up in tears over and over because he can't control the impulsivity and he feels worse the next day when he is back on medication. Each time he misses a day, he tells me not to let him ever do it again. |
| My child switched from Focalin to Vyvanse because of insurance issues. It was a total disaster for all of us. He was irritable and miserable to be around for several months. Even the school was calling us. The irritability actually started after he was on the medication for a few weeks. We were able to get a prior authorization and get our child back on the Focalin. He's back to normal now. I've heard similar stories about other people's kids on Vyvanse so beware that like other medicines, it's not for everyone. |

Give it 3 weeks tops. If he's still really irritable on it, switch meds.

OP here, we are done with vyvanse. I have a call out to the doc. |
| It really is individual. My DS just switched from Ritalin/focalin to vyvanse and has a better appetite. He also reports that he feels less damped down. Go figure! |
This. It is a good idea to take it after breakfast.when it wears off my son is super hungry. Good luck. PS Vyvanse has been great for my 11 year old. |
