How much does a tax accountant cost?

OP here, thanks for the advice. We'll just use an online program this year. Next year we'll have nanny expenses so I'll consider hiring an accountant to help with that but for this year it seems unnecessary.

We pay $130 for yearly State/Fed tax filing, married w/ two kids, a house and saving/retirement accounts. That's for a CPA.

One year i had a crazy tax situation that i didn't feel comfortable doing taxes myself (complicated stock option sale). So i did the taxes myself on turbotax and then brought them to a friends recommended accountant. He sat with me and reviewed them for an hour and i paid his hourly rate. So that is another option for you OP.

I do my own taxes using turbo tax. We own two houses, one of which is a rental, have a 529, investments, etc. I'm a CPA though.

We pay $750 and use Rosenbloom CPAs in Silver Spring - but my husband owns his own business and had interitence, etc. which makes it more complicated.

My tax accountant CPA charges $550 same tax situation like OP.
