Get private testing. You don't have to share it with MCPS if you don't want to. But it will give you information. About your child's learning profile that you might not otherwise know. And if there is a learning disability, you can. Boise how you want it addresses: more or different tutoring, services through MCPS, or something else.
Kids with IEPs and learning disabities can and do go on to college with appropriate support. But kids with u diagnosed LDs or kids who don't get the right supports can become frustrated with school and develop behavioral issues that are then blamed, wrongly, for their lack of achievement. |

MCPS will drag out the identification process as much as possible. For your child's well being, get a private neuropsychological testing. It will give you a good plan you can begin immediately at home and with the private tutor. The report is like a road map of your child's strengths and weaknesses and how your child learns best. |
How can I find one that accepts my insurance? Any recommendations? We have FepBlue (Federal BCBS). I understand private testing is expensive, and I'm not sure we can swing it this year. We were hoping MCPS would do the testing, but I'm realizing that may take a while and may not be ideal. |
We have similar insurance and are trying to get into Kennedy Krieger. I understand that take our insurance in certain circumstances. At least call them. |
