We stayed at one of these (owned by the same person). I can't remember which one, but they are both really nice and perched high up above the town of Estes Park with amazing views:

In Vail/Beaver Creek, I'd recommend the Arrabelle or the Westin Beaver Creek. Arrabelle is great if you want to stay in the town of Vail, but the Westin was great too. Definitely take Trail Ridge Road if you are doing both. It takes longer to get to Vail, but it's beautiful and there are lots of great stopping points along the way. Enjoy!
