| Experienced parent here-- you and yr child will enjoy the local community and involvement with your very own neighborhood school. I would switch. Test scores are not reflective of your child's abilities and my kids had far better literacy going into a private competitive MS than many of their life long private school peers. The more involved local parents the better the school becomes. Good luck! |
| Gee, it's almost as if charter schools are just all complete bs designed to drain resources and talent from the local school system. |

Because some people suffer from grass-is-greener syndrome...yeah that's it. Half the city is in charter schools. Some people don't even have an option for and IB as scores are in the 20s. |
| Your child has many many more years of school. You will encounter other teachers that you don't like. Look at the big picture. If you move, I would make it for good. Constant moving of schools is not good for children. |

Don't base your decision on just one year.
Try the school next year and see how it goes. We had one or two terrible years at our WOTP neighborhood school and I thought of leaving but it has worked out well over the long run. Teacher leaving in the middle is a very difficult situation for most schools. They often have to use an experienced aide or a long term sub. It is understandably very difficult to hire someone mid year. Most good teachers already have a job and I don't think the school wants to get stuck with someone bad. Keep talking to the principal though and make sure the aide is decent and has a lot of support. |
