What is your monthly take home pay and breakdown if you make 150-170k a year

Problem is your needs change once you reach this level of income.

I would guess most people in the area that make this much are in one of the following positions:

- IT consulting
- Accounting
- Financial services
- Law
- Medicine
- Small business owner

A PP here: both DH and I max our 401k but do not contribute to other retirement plans. We save for college in 529 and in a index fund. I am starting to rethink this strategy and might soon stop putting money in the index fund and open another retirement account.
