s/o wines for Indian food

Anonymous
Beer with Indian food ..... wine is not served with Indian food even in the better restaurants in India.

That is changing. They are making drinkable wine in India, around in the south around Hyderabad.
Even ten years ago, the better restaurants had ok wine lists. At the Lake Palace Hotel in Udaipur, I saw a Chateau Palmer for $400 (a very reasonable price for that wine). (They also had Beringer, which goes for $15 here, for $200.)

You could look at the Rasika Restaurant's wine list for suggestions. A lot of the previous suggestions make their list.

Wow, that's a great list. Very helpful that they explain which of their Rieslings are bone dry, very dry, and semi-sweet. (If you're in a store and don't know, it's very hard to tell--Riesling labels are notoriously Delphic. Ask the shopkeeper.)

Notable that the one wine that really doesn't go is cabernet. They only have one by the glass and about 5 very expensive California bottles, probably for people who never order anything else. There's no Bordeaux section at all. But a lot of pinots, and lighter Italian varietals.
