That sounds like something went very, very wrong with that particular chicken. Take the receipt back and tell them what happened. I wouldn't be surprised if they refunded your money.

Costco chickens are so good and they are quite good-sized for the price. We are a family of four and we usually get two dinners out of one plus enough for a sandwich or two for my husband to take to work. I might go get one tomorrow after thinking about them because of this thread!

After you try that, seek out Korean fried chicken. Bon Chon or Chi Mc (in VA). It's totally not what you'd expect but is awesome. After you have the good stuff, it's hard to eat the grocery store chickens.

Which place, PP? I am a vegetarian but often buy whole chickens for my friends when I host dinners.

I go to Costco often at closing time and find lots of chicken still in the warming cases. Do they throw them out at the end of the night or put them out again in the AM?

They sell tons of stuff made with rotisserie chicken -- soup, pot pie, chicken salad, etc. I assume that is what they do with leftovers.
