I'm Wiccan. Ask Me Anything!

You believe in the polarity of the cosmos? what does that mean exactly?

Have I been spelling magick wrong all these years?

Think yin and yang. There's a balance in the universe. By referencing the cosmos, however, I was referring to my belief in a Goddess and a God.

Magick with a k is used to differentiate between make believe magic or magicians or fairy-tales.

Are Wiccans atheists?

Do prayers?

I certainly think that spells work. When I do magick, it's how I connect with the divine higher powers and how I channel their energy to allow them to work through me, much the same way that prayers are connections to God.

Not by the normal definition of atheist. Wiccans don't really believe in the Christian God, but instead believe in a Goddess and a God.

Is Mother Nature the Goddess and God?

Is Mother Nature the Goddess and God?

Mother Earth, Gaia, Goddess, is the mother of all, even of God. All things on earth come from her womb and her three forms represent the stages of life: Maiden, Mother, and Crone.

The moon is attributed to the Goddess. The waxing moon is the Maiden, representing the beginning, innocence, and possibilities. The full moon is the Mother, pregnant and fertile. The waning moon is the Crone, wise and knowledgeable that at one point soon she will cease to be but at peace because she knows that she will be reborn again and the cycle will continue.

Chicken-egg/egg-chicken idea? Why do you believe one way and not the other way?

I imagine it the same way that I imagine God creating Jesus; both are divine but one simply had to come first and because I believe that the fertility of the Mother created life, it only makes sense that She would have created the God as well.

Are there any books or documentaries on the Wiccan practice you'd like to share?

what type of spells do you casts? Do you have a special room in your home w/ herbs, plants, candles etc set up for your practice?

Do you think it's odd that people "shop" for a religion that most suits them and their beliefs? It seems odd to me, but I can't put my finger on the reason ...

Traditional religions must hate Wiccanism since it goes against the males first, Eve was created from Adam's rib, sin and everything bad is the fault of women, etc theories.

Are you aware of any public figures or celebrities who are Wiccan?

And, with all due respect and seriousness and general curiosity, is there a Wiccan "look" - do you wear certain clothing styles or colors or symbols?

Is Stevie Nicks Wicca? She claims she is spiritual, but...what do you think?

I haven't watched any of these, but I certainly will now that I know they exist: https://www.google.com/search?q=wicca+documentary&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

I, and most Wiccans, have an alter that is the center of where we physically practice. My alter is under the window of my bedroom. Here are some examples of people's altars: goo.gl/tcNkAa

I cast protective spells on my loved ones to guard them from harmful energy, healing spells, spells for patience or understanding, fertility spells if people specifically ask. I know that some witches cast spells to get them love, power, money, etc, but I stay away from those.

I think it's more odd that people don't question their beliefs and instead remain in the religion they were raised in simply out of tradition.

+1

Also, do Wiccans cast negative spells, too? I worked with a Wiccan. I swore she hated me.
