I love Weight Watchers on line, but it's not for everyone.
The "comfort food" thing seems big for you, so replace it with something. Herbal tea is good. So is calling a friend or doing some stretching exercises. The best "cure" for this comfort eating is comforting yourself with something that is not food-- even low calorie or no calorie food. You can re-train your mind to crave something different. Find one of your size 8 outfits and hang it on the outside of your closet door so that you see it, morning and evening. Exercise at least 4 times per week, 30 minutes or more. This can be walking briskly, or on a treadmill, or bicycle Start taking the stairs instead of elevators and walking up the escalators. ALlow yourself to eat a full dessert maximally 1-2 times per week. Good luck. The motivation should be to feel good, look good, and be healthy. |
My gestational diabetes diet was the best actually! It was high protein (like Adkins, for example) and low carb.
In the morning, I'd eat a sandwich (low carb bread, one slice, cheese and turkey). I was so full for most of the morning. In the afternoon, for lunch, I'd eat a HUGE salad - with all of the fixings from nuts to cranberries to sunflower seeds to hard boiled eggs and topped off with low-cal dressing. For dinner, I was hardly hungry. So if we had pasta, I wasn't really craving it. I'd eat a small portion. I swear it's been the best thing for me. If I snacked, I'd much on some fruit or nuts. Also, if you can squeeze in a 30-minute walk, you'll feel more energetic. If you work, try it during your lunch hour. |
My latest diet incentive is financial. The less I eat the more money I save! |
