Not the OP but another parent looking for spring break ideas. Will it be warm enough to swim during spring break (1st week of April)? |
Wow, your kids missed out. DD adored the kids club on the Disney cruise. |
| We prefer to interact with our kids on vacation rather than putting them in kids clubs. Ymmv. |

No |
It could be but it could not. It is near Jacksonville. I would call and ask for the average temperatures. |
Their website says the average high in April is 78. That sounds about right. |
| Lots of options in Cancun and Jamaica that are not as expensive - we have done both. |

OP here, thanks everyone, I will look into the additional options. We have to go during spring break because my kids cannot miss a week of school otherwise, we have a 4 th and 5 th grader at a pretty intensive catholic school, and they would get way too behind if I pulled them for a week I think. We used to vacation off season when they were young and I loved it because of the prices.
I would like the kids club just to get a break for 1 or 2 full days or a few half days. I love my kids but 2 of them have ADHD, we both work full time, have to take care of the house, dog and cat, plus we are always on the go and stressed since we commute each about 2 hrs a day, have basketball, scouts, speech therapy for my youngest, etc etc. We do not have any family here. We had a bit of a break in the summer when I drove them to family in Ohio for a week so I could take care of my husband after he had a surgical excision of an intestinal tumor. I love the beach and we always have a good time when we go as a family, I am just a bit burned out and tired. I would love a Disney cruise, but wow are they expensive. For spring break I think it's 6 k or 8 k. We are govt employees with a house payment, 1 car payment, private tuition, day care payment so we do not have the extra cash like that right now. If I cannot find anything with a kids club, we will just do something else all together. Travel in the US is so expensive. We just returned from overseas 2.5 yrs ago and hav not traveled anywhere except to Williamsburg, Ohio and Michigan since. When we lived overseas most recently we all traveled to China, Australia for 3 weeks, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Saipan and Japan and it was all affordable. Most of the resorts we stayed at had kids clubs, for free, sometimes we used them, sometimes not, some were better than others and sometimes our kids wanted to go and at other times thye did not which was fine. Anyway, thanks for the additional suggestions, I will research some of those. |
| Look into the desert ridge Marriott in Pheonix. |
| Poster 14:33- can you reccomend the resort you stayed at in Mexico, can u give me the name? Thanks |

What about finding a spot with a nearby university where they have the same days off for spring break? I adore my babysitter from AU and she is extremely dependable. You could start putting out feelers now and interview people via Skype etc. and check references.
I know it's not what you had in mind but if you paid a babysitter $100 per day you would pay less than most of these options and have more choice. South Florida would have options. |
Maybe. We go to St Simons (next to Sea Island) each Spring Break, and the past two years the weather has been cold and not good for the beach or swimming. Last year (mid April), it was in the 60s! That said, we have been going for 8 years and the past two have been an anomaly. Usually it's in the 70s/80s. I would not rely on warm weather though - and would keep that in kind if you are paying $500/night! |
