Breakfast burritos.
You get pre-cooked sausage links, shredded cheese, soft tortillas and make a big omelet ahead of time. On the day of the breakfast, you cut strips of egg off the omelet, put on the tortilla with a sausage link and some shredded cheese, fold up into a burrito, then microwave just enough to heat through (everything is already cooked). Serve. Added bonus is that they are easy to eat hand foods for the kids. |
I forgot to add, optional is to either put salsa or picante in the burrito or serve on the side with the burrito. |
| I like all of these ideas, but I esp agree with the poster who said that coffee cake is your tradition, so stick with it and make sausages or bacon on the side for protein. If you defrost the sauage overnight, then in the morning just pop them into the toaster oven on 375 deg for 15 min and they will roast while kids open stockings - turn every once in awhile. Or make bacon in oven at 375 deg for 15-20 min. In either case no clean up except to throw out the tin foil the meat cooked on. |
On Christmas morning? You eat what I serve worked with my kid (I know it doesn't with everyone, not saying it does or should), but on Christmas day, I made sure to serve a special treat for breakfast. OP, my kid likes hardboiled eggs straight from the fridge, reheated bacon, and smoothies made with greek yogurt and fresh fruit (although you'd need to make those day of). Would your kids enjoy any of those? |
