Best chocolate cake recipe ever?

I'm going to get jumped on for this, but boxed cake. Dressed up a little bit if you want (Cake Doctor). I have worked with several bakeries for classes & orders, and they all tell me boxed is the way to go & then to spend your time/effort on the frosting.

+1. This one always gets rave reviews by kids & adults alike. For kids, I usually make cupcakes and frost with milk chocolate frosting or whipped creme. I also usually split the recipe into 1/3 or 2/3 - the original makes a huge cake.

The recipes for Ina Garten Beatty's Cake and this Epicurious Double Chocolate Cake are very similar and produce a very rich, dense cake. Absolutely delicious. But when I'm making it for kids, I use a traditional powdered-sugar American buttercream to go with it instead of a ganache-y type of frosting, which is usually too rich for kids.

Yeah. So. Not a recipe. And also gross and disgusting. But whatever works for you

OP must check this one out -- idiot proof (I find Ina's baking recipes to be a little touchy) and very moist and dark

The recipe on the back of the Hershey's dutch processed cocoa. And the frosting recipe that's on there is our favorite, too.
+2 It is the perfect chocolate cake.
