How much did you save for college this year?

I don't know, OP, your numbers sound a little low based on your HHI. Ours is the same (although that's recent) and save 10k per year for our two kids (4 and 6) and have been doing so since the second was born. We max out two 401ks and two IRAs. Kids are in daycare and public school.

HHI is $250k, but I took some unpaid maternity leave, so it was a little lower this year.

We save $6000/yr for our 3yo. We will do the same for the new baby, but DH's online account access is screwed up so he hasn't opened his account yet. So the baby had $1000 put in his account this year.

^^i only put $1000 in for the baby because of when he was born. Next year we will each put $3000 in an account for a total of $6000.

I agree. DH and I made around 170k this year. We contribute $300/month, to my DD's 529 (She's 2.5). We max our Roth IRAs, but don't quite max out our 2 401k's. P.S. I'm not saying that you are doing a bad job. I'm just saying it seems like you could save more.

HHI about $170K.

Maxed out our IRA, and put another $2,700 in a Roth IRA.

Kids are 14 and 10. We put away $7,000 per kid this year.

HHI around 300k. We saved 5k per kid ages 3 & 6. Grandparents have told us that they changed their will to leave their $ to the kids but they haven't elaborated and we don't know what that means.

HHI $300k. Kids are 8 and 11. We save $10k per year per kid and have done so since we stopped pay for day care. When they were in day care out HHI was lower (more like $200k) and we tried to save $2500 a year per kid (we did the max dependent care withholding for forced savings). We also max out our 401ks to the federal limit and some years do back door Roth.

Kids are in public schools. We live in a very modest house in Arlington (600K) so get good schools and good quality of life but have plenty of room to save.

HHI 110k, saved 6k total for 2 kids ages 1 and 3

We do $300 per month per kid - so $7,200 a year. We started when kids where born and but in a couple $10,000 investments over time. Kids are now 13 and 11. The accounts have grown to $118k and $93k, sadly not nearly enough.

HHI: $220k
529 for 1 4 year old DC: $4k
Maxed 2 TSPs
Bought a new house this year and mostly drained our savings for that leaving only enough to cover our 6 month emergency fund.
Child is still in full time dyacare in a center so we just can't do more right now.

None our kids are in private so have it built into our budget.

Fully paid prepaid state plans. Now playing catchup on regular 529. Have about $40k in per DC ages 12 and 14. Have upped savings to $3700 per month to fund potential cost of college and expenses. That's what it will take according to tuition calculators.

HHI of about $175K and save $6,000/year in 529s for each of three kids, currently 10, 9, and 7. We started a bit late, so currently have between $55K and 65K in each account, which makes me nervous. I am thinking that we might need to try to up the amount next year - maybe to at least $24K. The thought that we could potentially have 3 in college at the same time (at least for a year or two) is intimidating!

$13,500 total into two 2-year prepaid 529s, for last 3 years. Will hopefully be able to do two more 2-year prepaids soon, once we lower some care costs.

HHI of $180k. 4 years ago we were at $100k.

Maxed my 401k this year, DH did not due to unexpected costly travel expenses.
