Getting an IEP for sensory issues - questions to ask?

Anonymous
Also ask for a Physical Therapy eval and Speech evaluation. You should ask for the full spectrum of testing and not just OT.

Hi OP, because your kid is three and in public school and the school is suggesting the eval and sensory issues, I figured it had to be a charter. Most other places would be talking about the District or the County or whatever.

You must be at a charter that is its own Local Ed Agency (does its own special ed). That's good! DCPS likely wouldn't be so helpful, from its reputation.

Here's some info from the DC special ed coop. http://specialedcoop.org/coop/parents/parents-overview/

The psychoeducational eval will include interviews with you and teachers, rating scales, developmental history, observations, and recommendations. Worthwhile if they are looking at an IEP. And intelligence testing to look for possible LDs, etc, which can be subtle. Surprised they didn't suggest it.
