c-section recovery - PLEASE don't get off track

Just in case the nursing team at the hospital doesn't teach you...there are ways to get out of bed that make it easier on your stomach muscles. I wish I could find a google search result that demos it....basically from a side position, you use the arm on top to push your body up slightly...you then use the weight of your legs when pulled over the side of the bed to leverage your body into sitting position.

some places might give you a breath meter to see if you are breathing deeply. The deep breathing stimulates the intestinal track and helps w/ healing. If the hospital doesn't give you one you could ask for it or ask the nurse about it.

good luck!

I overdid it without realizing that I was overdoing it. I was picking up the cat, and I went to the grocery store about 2-3 weeks later and was lifting groceries. My incision started opening a bit - which FREAKED me out. My doctor assured me it was only on the outside and inside it was definitely sealed (it closed up as soon as I started taking it easy)....but basically just lift the baby for the first few weeks. I never felt any pain at all - just discomfort especially when laughing or coughing, but then by 6 weeks you really are feeling fine...not perfect, but fine. By about 2 months post partum, I was pretty perfect.

Oh and you'll definitely be okay holding the baby with the boppy etc.
