Country club birthday parties?

Absolutely. Convenient for a winter birthday child when you want a larger space and want to know the food will be decent and maybe hire entertainment in.

+1. We're not part of the country club set but have to rent a space for our winter birthday dd's party every year. If we already belonged to a cc, we'd definitely look at a room there. Of course, if we had the money to belong to a country club, we'd probably also have a house big enough to host a dozen kindergarteners in the first place!

I had my kid's bowling party at a country club and we go to public. She's been to several at the same club, mix of pubic and private school kids, just like the members.

They are very common at both my kid's privates - bowling at Chevy and Congressional and Kenwood is the cc usual party.

We've never been invited to a CC b-day party by any of our classmates at a NW DC private even though many of them belong to CCs (one in particular!). However, we've been to a few hosted by friends in our neighborhood. I would feel a little awkward hosting a kids b-day party at a CC. There would always be at least one person who would feel funny about it (or think badly of us because of it) it and I think there are enough venues for kids' parties that you can do something fun without causing any potential awkwardness for your guests.

I would have no problem hosting an adult party at a club. The main difference is the guests would be friends of mine and I'm pretty sure they'd all be comfortable at any club. At a kid's bday party, you're inviting families from your school that could come from different backgrounds and feel uncomfortable in that setting.

My DC's went to birthday parties at CC's starting in K. I had never been in a CC so I was kind of excited. Until the servants....I mean wait staff showed up in maids outfits (don't even know what to call guys in these outfits!). That was rather uncomfortable for me. It was either Kenwood or Chevy Chase CC. DC is graduated now so it was awhile ago. I don't have current info.

Congressional has an awesome duck pin bowling alley that is perfect for a kids party. It's not that expensive to rent/have food if you are a member (and much cleaner than your local bowling alley where you typically can't get private space. i wouldn't be surprised if there are kids parties there (whether the kids go to private or public). We don't belong, but I went to a party there once and it was really fun and I remember thinking it would be a great space for a kids party...

Yes, that's one of the reasons to belong to country clubs. Avoiding the bs laser tag, video game unwashed cesspools is a major benefit.

I went to one of the privates in the area. As a kid, there were bowling, ice skating, and swim parties at Chevy Chase. Bowling and Swim at Kenwood and Columbia, and I remember a "dance" party as teenagers at Kenwood.
