wasting food

The OP's kid asked for eggs, refused to eat them, then asked for a waffle instead. Even when there's a short order cook in the house, the kid tries to waste food!

My 2.5 year old is really into this right now. His favorite is asking me to peel an orange. So it's not like I am cooking and it's very healthy, so I hate to refuse. I ask him over and over "are you going ot eat it?" He says yes, and then he doesn't touch it. Actually, he eats one bite, after I tell him he asked for it and needs to eat it.

Honestly, while I respect the "eat or go hungry camp," I remember vividly as a kid going hungry because my lunch or dinner disgusted me. I hated the concept of family dinner for many many years because of it. So, for me personally, I don't think it's wrong to offer a kid some alternatives. I just choose to give them something I don't have to cook and is healthy. And he already gets the "eat it or go hungry" at preschool (and he does go hungry a lot of days). Or at least this was my attitude until my son reached this stage. Before at least he was honest and didn't want the food on his plate.
