My 2.5 year old is really into this right now. His favorite is asking me to peel an orange. So it's not like I am cooking and it's very healthy, so I hate to refuse. I ask him over and over "are you going ot eat it?" He says yes, and then he doesn't touch it. Actually, he eats one bite, after I tell him he asked for it and needs to eat it.
Honestly, while I respect the "eat or go hungry camp," I remember vividly as a kid going hungry because my lunch or dinner disgusted me. I hated the concept of family dinner for many many years because of it. So, for me personally, I don't think it's wrong to offer a kid some alternatives. I just choose to give them something I don't have to cook and is healthy. And he already gets the "eat it or go hungry" at preschool (and he does go hungry a lot of days). Or at least this was my attitude until my son reached this stage. Before at least he was honest and didn't want the food on his plate.
