Constipation on the elderly - any suggestion on how to deal with it besides laxative?

Yes she does. 90+ and bad RA. She does walk A LOT inside the house though - slow (very) and steady… she doesn't stop. When she is not sleeping of course.

OP here. Thanks everyone for the tips. I will try the dried fruits and juice first. If that doesn't solve, I will try miralax. If that doesn't work, I will try the laxative in half dose.

Ok. Fiver without adequate fluid just acts like cement.

Is she on meds that are constipating? Gluten sensitivity can also present with constipation as the only symptom. As an added bonus being gluten free will likely help the RA as gluten is very inflammatory.

All if that aside though, adding magnesium will help move things along slowly. A product available at WF called Calm - it's a powder given in a couple ounces of warm water. You could start slow at 1 tsp every day.
