Is preschool attendance not a big deal to u?

My girlfriend is a pre-school teacher. They won't say it to your face, but people like you are entitled assholes. You're not as special as you think and your precious snowflakes even less so

Again, so disrespectful to be late. So entitled. Ugh.

Pretty sure your entitled when your paying for it? If you want your kid to go in late for various reasons or miss a day for something that is going on, it is your choice as the parent and at this point in time we are entitled to that decision. That all changes once they are in public schools!

We always arrive by 8:30, but if the grandparents are visiting we don't think twice about missing days. I'm a teacher and am not offended or annoyed when my school age students miss an occasional day for trips or family activities. It's rarely a problem or abused.

I'm a preschool teacher and it doesn't bother us at all when kids are late. No big deal. We start the day with free play to allow for that. It doesn't disrupt a thing when a child comes in late.

The sleeping thing…weird, but not terrible for the kid in my opinion. Then again, I teach in a 3s classroom, if I taught 4s and they were heading to Kindergarten, maybe that would change? Probably not…

Wow, I sure hope your pre-school teacher friend does not share this opinion. I would really not want her teaching my children with that attitude or dislike for my "precious snowflake". If its so bad and we are all just a bunch of entitled assholes, maybe your friend should consider a new profession where someone else can pay for her salary.

Your gf should find another career. She seems angry and poorly suited to work with kids.

We posted at the same time, otherwise I'd just +1 your post, you said it better than me.

You've got this backwards. I pay to send my kid to preschool, the preschool commits to be open and have class. If I chose to let my kid sleep in, that's my choice and my wasted money.

The preschool decides to close for the day, they're not honoring their commitment.

I've never had a child be late to pre school. But we have missed a lot for special days like taking a day trip to the aquarium or going on vacation.

It's preschool, not high school! If someone cares to waste their tuition money and let their child sleep in, so be it. As a teacher, though, I appreciate a notification if your child won't be attending that day, however.

By that logic, wouldn't the kids whose days are disrupted by the late arrival be entitled to an uninterrupted school day?

I don't care if you skip altogether, and I agree that if a preschooler is sleeping late (and isn't a routine late sleeper) then they need the sleep and it's fine to allow them to skip, but if you're going to go, you should go on time.

This. I don't think it's a big deal to skip preschool, but it's rude to be late because it disrupts the rest of the class. If we were going to be late, I just wouldn't go.

Seriously? It is preschool. Get over it.

As for the situation of waiting on the bus for siblings etc. I had a child I was taking care of that had to be at school at 9:05. I could hardly be in two places at once and while i hated taking mine to preschool late each morning i had no choice. Teachers were very understanding and I am not one of those parents who linger nor is my child one who cries when dropped off, he walks in and gets settled in quickly.

As for elementary school, he is there on time everyday

Oh please, kids don't usually notice when someone comes in late. If this is disruptive to a child, then anything and everything else is also disruptive.
