Moving up to a bigger house: Is it possible?

We just did it in Fairfax county. House sold in 2 weeks, we quickly put an offer on a great home that we'd been eyeing. We closed on our 1st home on a Thursday and bought our next home on Friday. It can be done and it's very common. The sellers didn't have any trouble with our need to sell our home.

We also did a rent back. The previous owners wanted 2 extra weeks. The people buying our place let us stay an extra 2 weeks because they were coming from an apartment and didn't care.

As for an addition, we were thinking about it but decided not to go in that path. We spent quite some money on this house over the 5 years. New windows, new roof, kitchen and bathroom renovated, new HVAC, new driveway, etc. To have the space/features we want, a lot of these thing must go but I believe there must be some people out there to enjoy living in this house for 5-10 years as it is (as their starter home as us).

Our neighborhood houses sell quickly. The house next us got multiple offers after a weekend open house. Good location, good schools. But the area that we want to move to is hot too so we probably should sell first.

Curious, where you moving? Nothing seems hot right now.
