The "Washington DC Metro" list has Flint Hill AHEAD of St. Albans.

The fact that New Hope Academy is on the list at all means that it's useless.

Notre Dame in Middleburg did not go out of existence, it had a name change when Bishop Loverde took away it's right to be a Catholic School when they chose a lay principal. Catholic politics. The school remains.

One of the key aspects of this list just belatedly dawned on me. Though the thread is titled "best private schools" the list presumes to rank the "best private HIGH schools." Many notable K-8 programs don't appear on this list. And the methodology clearly makes heavy use of data (college placements, SATs, etc.) that only pertains to high schools.

I'm not sure if this list is useful at all for choosing a high school. But it's clearly not useful for fully weighing one's options in the lower grades.

Well now we have the definitive big 3. Take that GDS. Not even top 94.

...unless you are doing what you have to do when it comes to early years and go with your gut while listening to word of mouth about a school, all the while looking at the high school for examples of quality, goals, and your child's future. I was happy to see my child's school on this list in a pretty good place, confirming our thoughts about the place all along. Two years in, but we are very pleased, and yes, do believe it is a sign of things to come (also recognizing things can change, but that we can only use the information we have available to make decisions, crystal ball broken and all).

Andover wasn't even on the national list. Bogus!0

Since DH and I both attended a school in the top five, we're very happy with the listing.

Lists are bogus. A pp is correct that Notre Dame changed to Middleburg Academy but that happened years ago. And a school in NY is listed in the DC list. Some schools aren't even listed like St. Andrew in Potomac. May sound like a jerk but I think it probably ranks higher than a school in Luray (which is not really Dc metro anyway).
