Help -- 7 year old boy needs a hobby!

Does he go to afterschool? If not, maybe you could send him there one or two days a week so he could play with his classmates. Or you could organize play dates. (Again, I'm assuming he comes home straight from schoo.) Does he like sports? There's rec soccer, rec softball, etc. The thing with any hobby is most children this age do not do them daily and when they do it's usually not more than an hour. Tae kwon do (sp?) or karate classes might be fun. Good luck!

Do you have a backyard? Could you send him outdoors with a field guide and ask him to report back on what he finds?

Buy some appliances from the salvation army etc (nothing over a dollar or two) give him a few screwdrivers and wrenches. tweezers etc., and tell him that he may take it apart and try to put it back together.

I'm not being sarcastic- my son (8) and daughter (10) love to do that!
