Enjoy your Xanax, but don't look to Mick for approval.

We are not idiots. Of course we realize the song is about how bleak and unfulfilling modern life feels. That is the whole point and why some of us can relate to it so well.

Try vigorous exercise.

+1 Did someone up there say they take one if a friend/relative goes to the hospital? Absolutely not! I'd want to be fully aware so that I can help.
But I get it, people are different. Some run to drugs or escapism, while others face their problems wide awake. This has nothing to do with being a mother in particular.

This song is condescending to mothers and women.

OK, Tom Cruise.

How did you get the prescription? I would very much like to climb off the ledge once in a while.

Seriously. CoS is calling, they want 20k and your first born male child.

ok no one is looking to Mick for "validation" and of course the song infantilizes the stress of being a mother--still, the desire to feel comfortably numb is occasionally relatable when you are in very painful stressful family encounters. Get over yourselves. We exercise.

Wow try getting your own life and stop using forums to bash people trying to make yourself feel good about whatever. plus you didn't even get what she was actually writing about and the meaning, so sad ill bet it wasn't enough to make you feel better, and you went looking for more people to stomp on without the slightest clue of their true meanings. You need your own little helper dear but don't realize it.

I get it, OP. I've taken a small dose of xanax to deal with a very stressful situation/fall asleep. I like the line from the Beatles song, " I get by with a little help from my friends."

I don’t drink much or take pills, but I can relate to the feeling of just wanting to escape sometimes from the stress and monotony of middle age. I hope you find a healthier outlet (I have found reading helps and sometimes zoning out on TikTok). The latter isn’t the best use of time ever, but I guess not the worst.

I can relate to the song a lot. These stresses and the bleakness of parenting small children is how I became an alcoholic.

I still crave the numbness that alcohol gave me. I’m the last person to be holier than thou about people seeking chemical solace. Just be careful. I wish I was the kind of person that could still moderate but something in my brain changed after I had kids and I can’t regulate substance consumption when that darkness settles on me.

Me again—to be clear, I am sober now.
