It only takes 5 minute for my house to go from decently clean to a disaster zone. I've noticed when visitors come over, they often say "I can tell you have kids." I guess that is the polite way of saying my home is a a mess.

OP, I'm so impressed your house is clean in the AM. My house is never clean, and I have a cleaner once a week. It looks nice for a few minutes after she leaves, and then it's back to a disaster, and it stays that way. It's only really clean once every 5 years when we throw a big party. I don't even clean it up for dinner parties. Our friends know our house is a mess -- they all have kids too. If I tried to keep it clean, I would have to clean all day every day. The kids leave a trail of messes, and DH and I are not particularly neat, plus we have stacks of papers, newspapers, books and various projects all over the place. At least we are busy and have active lives. Maybe we'll have a neat house when the kids are all grown, although I doubt it. Life is not about looking neat as a pin; it's about living.
