I posted before that my son attends - he is mixed ethnicity (white mother, latino father). I believe the school is about 65% latino, 30% African-American and the rest are mostly white. The first year we attended we we one of only a few white families. This year there was a noticeable increase in white families. If you are asking because you wonder if you/your child will feel comfortable there, I don't think numbers can tell you that. I believe the best thing to do is go visit the school.

So, the implication is that only High SES parents care about their kids' education. What I have found is that higher SES families send their kids to "good" schools with kids like themselves, so that the parents don't actually have to be involved, they rely on the school to do it all. Parents in lower SES households are often very involved, care about education and are very supportive of their kids and the school. So, if you don't want your kids to go to school with the "others" you need to look elsewhere. Too bad they will miss out on a fantastic education - both academically and about life in general.

Sorry you are offended but many families don't want their child to be the "only" in the classroom or entire grade. We have to have these discussions. There are groups of parents who quietly discuss "sticking together" into upper grades at schools. This is reality.

NP - This may be "reality", but if I were there and I knew there were several white kids, I'd still find the question so obnoxious and the many assumptions underlying it such a turn off, I'd not give any info I have. Why help someone I find obnoxious?

OP or whoever asked, stop being lazy, go check out the school yourself. See for yourself if you can imagine your kid there. Your discomfort with being in the minority probably means you should go elsewhere, even though it may well be a great (or soon to be great) school.
