Just curious - how often do you wash dd's (preschool) hair?

Every other day in fall/winter/spring. Bath every day. She's in the pool every day in the summer so I wash it every night to get the chlorine out. Her hair is very similar to mine and mine would turn a lovely shade of green every summer from the pool.

Once or twice a week. Hair is fine, long, and doesn't ever really look greasy. In fact, we use a detangler most mornings to brush, so it winds up getting conditioned in between washes to boot.

I wash my own hair only every other day and seem to remember doing it once a week or so as a little kid.

My girl gets super sweaty in the summer, so it's almost daily washes. During the cooler months, her hair gets washed two times a week, and she bathes less frequently due to the dry weather.

Twice a week in the winter, more often in the summer because she gets sweaty and more dirty from outside play. Too much washing dries the scalp. If you are gradually cutting down on washing, it may be greasy for a few weeks, but her scalp will adjust to produce less oil.

I do sometimes use wet washcloth with a little dish soap if she gets food or finger paint in her hair.

DD has super curly hair, very prone to tangles. A few months ago I stopped using shampoo entirely. We use gobs of conditioner and comb it out every other day.

We give her a bath 5-6 days a week using minimal, mild soap. We rinse her hair and scrub it a bit - basically the same action we'd use with shampoo - at almost every bath, but only wash it 1-2 times a week. Since it is relatively straight, we are able to brush it thoroughly every day without too many complaints. This approach is based on what I've learned to do with my own, very oily hair. Brushing and water scrubbing moves the oil down the hair, and hair is less oily if you don't use harsh shampoo all the time. We all have sensitive skin and have benefited (e.g., have saved money on moisturizer) from using less soap. Plus, my DD has allergies and eczema, so we don't want to damage her healthy skin bacteria too much. Her skin and hair look (and smell) great

I wash my curly daughter's hair once or twice a week. That's traumatic enough. Kids really don't need to be bathed every single day. In fact, there are days I skip a shower, and it's fine!

I wash their hair maybe twice a week. Once when we all go swimming, and then sometime three or four days after that.

Their heads don't get too stinky. If they get stinky, then we wash more often.

Butt washes every other day at least. Man, when do kids master wiping???????? (TMI?)

Unless it gets visibly soiled or smelly, I think once a week is fine and I've heard that recommended by several hair stylists.

OP- give it a try for yourself, it saves SO much time to not have to wash/comb/dry after every shower and is good for your hair. You have to very gradually work up to a week between washes, and you will probably have greasy hair during the transition until your scalp adjusts, but it is so worth it in the end. I used dry shampoo to get through the greasier days, but I don't need it at all anymore.
