Sidwell Open House - Do you really bring your kid?

I would wait until you've submitted the application and they set up the child visit day.

We went to an open house there last year, not one person brought their child. In fact, we have been to quite a few open houses, and very few brought children, and these usually were not the applicant but a younger sibling who wasn't in school or day care.

We went to the MS Open house and 90% (or more) of the families I saw there for our grade brought their child with them.

FOR SIDWELL when applying for PreK - do NOT bring your kid. We went last year and NO ONE brought their little one. It will be out of place and you will look foolish.

Who cares if you look foolish?

The only factors should be whether you think you'll get more out of the visit if you are without your child; or on the flip side if your child is old enough that s/he should come along in order to form his or her own opinion.

PLease, a four year-old isn't going to form an opinion from an open house.

Does Sidwell still spring that parental essay at the end of the tour? We walked out when they did that and scratched Sidwell off our list.

PP, you write the exact same thing every time admission season rolls around. Do you wait for just the right moment? That has been gone for years already. Move along!
