What do you do when one parent needs nursing care and the other is active?

I would hire a care aid temporarily to keep an eye on your mom so your Dad can get a break and your Mom can be safe. Maybe check out 55 and over communities where most of the houses/condos are small and one level plus there are usually assisted living centers and other types of care located within the community.

We had some luck with a geriatric care manager and my i laws. She was able to convince them to get a home health aid and also able to provide a referral. It was well worth the money for a few consultations with her.
