JKLMoOB PK4 - no chance, right?

Assuming you are talking about K, Janney did add a K class this year, plus the K classes are 25 kids per class. So putting Janney for lottery OOB without a sibling for either K or pre-K seems to be a futile endeavor. But you never know, I suppose.

No, Janney added a preK class this year, this is its third year with 5 K classes. It added a 4th preK class because if it had not it would only have accepted IB students with sibling preference into preK and there would have been several such kids on the waitlist. The class was added to ensure that some IB kids without sibling preference would be in preK.

I think preK without a preference is highly unlikely at Janney, but I have no idea what the actual numbers will be.

This school year Janney added a PK class (from 3 to 4) and still left 40 inbounds PK kids on the waitlist.
So, no--you won't get in out of boundary.
K will be huge next year.
This year the K classes are 26.

So for those who were considering moving inbounds for Janney, how many are expected to be in each class? Up to 30? What's the limit?

Thanks!

I think DCPS will allow them to go to 30.

I am not sure about this year, but I assume there might be a chance (depending on the number in the waitlist - also call he school a few days before count day, if there are spots to fill and people on the waitlist turned them down or are not responding, you may get it). I know that Janney left tens of IB on the waitlist so I would not waste time adding janney to the list

This happened because the school decided to add another preK class at the last minute and couldn't have several underemrolled classes of 15 or whatever.

I would not assume that to be a recurring event, the adding of whole class.

you are confusing K this year with pre-k. Murch has 3 pre-k classes, since at least 2009. no pre-k class was added, last year or this year, there still are three pre-k classes. This year one K classes was added, and some OOB in K were admitted because some K classes had only 17-18 kids.
