Opinions on Boden clothes?

For funky casual you might consider modcloth.com.

Love their dresses. I just ordered a few sweaters and they're all going back. They're too baggy to look stylish but too expensive as lounge wear.

+1

I would also say their dresses have a shorter torso, which happens to suit me well. I also have narrow hips, so I prefer their straight and pencil cuts.

Only buy when they are offering free shipping and free returns. Use the garment measurement chart to determine if it is a good bet or not (really wish more stores would offer this!).

I agree with this 100%. If you're young and British and stick thin (like the catalog models) the clothing looks adorable.
On 30ish American women it can quickly look very dowdy. It's cut large and kind of square and all the fun and funky prints just end up looking matronly.
Trust me, don't do it. They have brilliant marketing but it just doesn't look good on 95% of grown women.

I bought a pink coat, and when I got it the cut was less flattering than it had looked in the pics, and the fabric was heavier and more vintage/old lady than I expected.

I get lots of compliments on my Boden clothes--the dresses I have are cute and don't look matronly at all. I love the 7/8 chinos, too. I agree, the sizing can be a bit inconsistent, but there's great stuff and I find it holds up well.

There's a blog the reviews BOden stuff:

I have a friend who is in love with Boden, mostly dresses then the skirts. So I'm not sure on the tops.

Because of her enthusiasm (and coupon codes) I ordered a couple of skirts from them recently. I have to say they are very well made - skirts are lined! With real cotton! But sizing runs large (which in my case works fine for me). I'm wearing one of the skirts today - it has pockets, the lining, nice sticking detail - I'm impressed with the quality. YMMV.

I love their dresses. I've also been happy with pants and tops. I just ordered a super cute tunic - I don't think it's too twee or too matronly, but you have to pick and choose.

The pieces I've gotten have always been high quality. Most dresses are lined, good zippers, etc. Worth the money, though I usually buy sale or clearance stuff!

I find it to be hit or miss. There are only a few items that really work for me (5'3'', 110). I like and have the raincoat, a few of the button up shirts, a pair of leggings and two pants. The pants were the hardest to get right and only a couple styles work on me.

The sweaters, tunics, dresses and other jackets never looked right, I also didn't like the scarves.

I checked out Boden after people here raved about it. Bleh! Very, very matronly. My grandma is too young to wear that stuff.

+1 on the short torso. I'm 5'6 and a half and for dresses I usually need the tall size (I'm a size 6).

Mine, too. Can't afford too many items, though.

I only buy at end of year clearance. Love the quality.

As for women's clothes, I wonder, where do you wear this stuff. It's to frilly for home but too "fancy" for work.

Love it for kids. Striped long sleeve shirts are nice. Other things I've tried are strange. Tends to run small but when I get the right size, it just doesn't look right on me,
I'm wondering if they ignore waistlines and maybe that adds to the frumpiness

This site seems to love them. I think they're ugly and not at all stylish. Some cute kid stuff though.
