| Actually, I frequently am quite heartened by the nanny-child interactions I see. Lots of loving and engaged nannies out there. Sorry your neighbors have crappy ones. |
Oops, wrong playground incident thread. Sorry! |
I did the same thing last week. |

I think I would've looked at him and asked him who the hell he thought he was. Seriously, I don't give a shit what some jerk thinks about me, so I KNOW I would've asked that. I also would've told him that I haven't seen the kids do anything wrong and that if he thinks roughhousing by 9 year old kids is out of line, he has a lot of learning to do as a parent.
Then, I would've walked over to those kids and told them that they would be safer finding somewhere else to play. I would've told them that guy is a jerk and sometimes it's just best to get out of a jerk's way. Then I would've provided the example by taking my kids and leaving the playground. |
| OP if this really happened just say the name of the play area. Some of us would like to go read someone the riot act. |
| If this guy really used the n word we need to form a posse and do a beat down. I'm a white woman and I'll be there. |
Excellent non-violent modeling for your kids!
|
| Well, OP, what did you do? |
| I would have slapped the living day lights out of that man, in front of the children. Freaking monster! |
| I would have gone for the switchblade in my purse and sliced his throat, of course. |
Exactly. Bunch of armchair vigilantes up in here. |
| I would want to scream at him, but I suspect my common sense would kick in. Your kids need a mother (I'm assuming OP is a woman.). |
| Disgusting. Things like this make me ashamed to be white. |
| I can see it happening in a gentrifying area (I live in one). |
+1. My DS often plays on a playground near his school and I would want to know if some asshole was verbally abusing him and his friends. |
