If he is drinking it with ice, then something plastic is probably appropriate.

Bourbon can be legitimately served on the rocks.

If he likes his whiskey on the rocks, get him a glass that is shaped like this (there are cheaper versions out there, so several different price points):

The point of the angle is that when you drink, the angled sides keep the liquid going toward the mouth, while keeping the ice away. So you don't have those ice cubes banging against your upper lip. This works. The ones where the glass tapers slightly towards the bottom, e.g. standard lowball glasses or the straight edged ones are better when you like your whiskey neat.

I think these are hideous.

Are you a man?

Get him some Macallan drinking glasses. And if your really feeling generous/loving you could get him a Macallan ice ball maker. If you get the kit it comes with the ice ball maker, glasses, and other accessories to help make and store the ice balls.

Maker and glass with ice ball

My husband is a big scotch drinker and likes these glasses. I am not sure if they're good to use with ice though.

And that is great! I'm just saying that this is an issue of taste, and taste differs. OP has given us zero information about her husband's taste. Without that, I certainly wouldn't recommend dropping this kind of cash on glasses about which opinions differ.

2 opinions. I'm a Scotch drinking guy and I also dislike the Waterford glasses. They seem very feminine to me. I'd rather drink from a regular juice glass than from one of those. If someone got me those, they'd be thanked, I'd put them up on a high shelf above my liquor cabinet and leave them there as decoration rather than use them.

I forgot to add, they look like pineapples and make me think they are better suited to some girly fru-fru drink than for Scotch.
