My DS went to CDS and it was a nightmare. I would really focus on the educational needs of your child, when selecting the right preschool (maybe it will be a school that doesn't receive rave reviews from DCUMs?). My DS had a horrible time there and the teachers constantly complained about my DS. In fact, they even thought my child was autistic! I had to take DS out of that school within a month of enrolment.
Well, 5 years have passed since then, and my DS is doing great, loves her current mainstream school, and is gifted (as defined by MENSA). She is not autistic either! I, too, enrolled my child, in part, relying on the rave reviews this schools receives, but just be careful with that approach... |
My kid s went to Dolley Madison and we loved it. It is a very nurturing, play based preschool. The teachers truly care about th kids and it was a wonderful first school experience. |
We love CDS. The teachers are wonderful. The outdoor space is great. They have tons of extra activities for the kids. It has been a fabulous experience for my kids. |
My daughter is going to Dolley Madison in the fall. We are so excited! Dolley Madison has everything I imagined a preschool would have right down to the feeling you get when you walk in. The love for the kids pours out of the teachers and other staff members. I am so excited. We turned down CDS for Dolley Madison. |

As a former preschool teacher, I have to put in a word for the consistency of five mornings a week vs. the partial week. When I was in a school with the MWF/TTh model, I found that 'everyday was a Monday' and it took a long time for the children to get with the rhythm and routine of one day on/one day off. |
Country Day all the way! |
It's considered a big feeder to Langley School and Potomac School. |
