Maybe they are rude because you are racist?

Let's close this because it goes any further-this post started at the bottom of the hill with nowhere else to go. Let this be the last response.

Sorry-meant before instead of because-revulsion caused the mispelling

Since reading your post, I've decided to scout out every FC Rec Center and continue to do all the things you hate. I think I will bring my entire Asian family along to annoy you even more.

Sorry, Zumbamama, I have to disagree on the racism. I was a member of a pay-for-use country club in Fairfax. And, frankly, the large Asian population that used the club (which I have NO PROBLEM WITH; I don't care who uses the gyms) tended to treat the locker room, sauna and hot tub as bath houses (that I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH, whether they are Asian or not; it just so happens in my instances these folks were universally asian. Taking over areas with towels spread on the floor and lotions/bottles all over the place, lounging around naked over common dressing areas where multiple people should be able to dress, taking over areas of the pool and hot tub (even in med/fast swim lanes not meant for "walkers.") It may not sound like much but that is due to my description.

I don't think it was malicious on these folks' part. I think it must be something cultural (on both sides). But, it was annoying and difficult to work around, i.e., finding a place to dress. And, it doesn't make me racist (or the OP) for pointing out it out or for pointing out that they were - in fact- Asian. Saying that is racism is ridiculous.

And, no, I no longer belong to the club but not b/c of this issue.

Why is that line from that Michael Jackson song (yes, I am showing my age) now stuck in my head? You know:

You wanna be startin' somethin'
Got to be startin' somethin'

Somebody needs a life.

You're kidding right??? The OPs post is racist. Check out the tone and the verbiage.

Nice quiet white woman here who zips in and out of the locker room quickly and efficiently....but who walks around the locker room naked. (And believe me, I am not showing off my body!)

Am I supposed to be wrapping up in a towel? Seems a little strange. It's a locker room after all.

But, tell me, have I been violating some middle class white cultural rule about nudity in the locker room (okay to change clothes but not okay to walk around without a towel)? I've never been good at a lot of these things so I am actually not joking. Is this something that is considered rude among my fellow middle class white women?

I'm sorry, but to me it seems OP's issues or the PP's issues are logical concerns, but have nothing to do with race. I see men of all colors oogling women in the hot tub. Men do that. And I see women of all colors laying down in the sauna. And I see hair in the shower, and the women at my gym(s) come from all different backgrounds. So if the issues have nothing to do with race, why does OP make constant, repeated reference to it?

If she was oogled by men the same race as she is or surrounded by naked women in the locker room the same color as she, would there still be a need to reference the racial aspect of her experience?

That OP better applogize or I'm going to find out who the hell she is & shut her up myself.

The old ladies who walk/lounge around naked are what gross me out...

This is one of these threads that we can all make an effort to end. I will bump a few up so that it can be buried. Can we all work together on this? Don't reply.

In order to do this I must deal with Asian men in the hot tub checking out the women, Asian women naked in the locker rooms with small children walking around, Asian women lying down in the sauna (naked), Asian languages being spoken with no regard for anyone around them, the drains in the shower are clogged with hair. My white skin has clearly make me a minority in Fairfax County. I hope some of these rude folks will read this (if they speak English) and clean up their act. I wish live and let live included my white, clothed ass!

Yes, let's pull this apart.

Asian men are the only men on the planet who check out women?

The nakedness in the locker room remark is ridiculous - WTF is a locker room for but to change? Really? I don't know about you, but this white woman gets naked when changing after working out. You know, because I shower naked.

As far as "Asian languages being spoken with no regard for anyone around them," there is no adequate response for such a statement. Other than that doesn't sound like Cherokee to me, you raging wackadoo xenophobe.
