That's pretty messed up, seriously.

I agree - totally inappropriate. WTF is wrong with you???

Must be one sick person, devoid of empathy and intelligence.

Not PP - and I wouldn't post that myself - but no need for other PPs to get all hysterical. PP was just stating the obvious.

Why state the obvious if not to be cruel.

Why start a new thread if not to be voyeuristic?

Or a realistic logical person.

There is nothing logical or reasonable in that reply, OP never asked whether Hannah was alive.

No. Just someone who is realistic. I think the same and I believe that her parents do as well. What they want is closure and to move on.

I guess there are many unempathietic people here, labeling themselves reasonable. I get it, it's hard to live with a cognitive dissonance.

Why can't they get Mathew to talk? Surely they could offer something to help him decide to tell what he knows?
He's in BIG trouble - he surely knows by now that he's totally fucked - wouldn't he want to do something to unfuck himself, even if only slightly?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I just don't get this part.

I keep wondering if Matthew was part of a team. It's the only way I can rationalize his going to the police station and then not talking, and fleeing. Also would help explain why he hasn't given up where she is.

Seriously, there is hardly a person who is not sympathetic to the plight facing the parents - surely any parent's worst nightmare.

But although PP was crass, the reality is that she is likely dead and her body has not been found. The suspect will likely not release any information regarding where the body is - assuming that he killed her - other than as part of a plea bargain.

The reward has been raised to $100K at this point but unless the suspect has shared this information with anyone else, the reward is not going to make a difference.

I started the thread because I'm interested in the case and wanted to see if there had been any new developments. If you're not interested, move on.

I thought it was $100k for a "safe" return. Are there any incentives for finding her body?

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I imagine though they are. A lot of behind the scenes stuff we don't know about.

We were at the UVA football game Saturday night. I was wondering if there would be anything said. Pre-game, they made an announcement about her missing and asking for information, along with pictures posted on the big screen. I've forgotten the wording, but I believe there was something said about students staying safe and taking care of themselves. There were a pretty good number of students at the game.

They showed the same picture at halftime, but no other announcement was made.

there's definitely a lot happening that we don't know. i don't know enough about criminal law to understand what he'd be facing if he stayed silent vs confessed to everything vs just told them where HG's body is, etc. So awful.

from his perspective - if they can't find her body then they can't actually charge him with murder, right? so it seems that he has a lot of incentive to keep silent. but maybe he'd plea if they can charge him for morgan's death.

You definitely don't need a body to be charged with murder or a lesser manslaughter charge.

He is probably not talking under advice from his attorney, that's my guess. He can be charged with murder but a prosecutor would know that it would be extremely difficult to get a jury to convict him without a body. If you look at it from a completely objective way, he would be fucking himself over if he said anything before they found her body because he knows there is a chance he may never be charged with murder if they don't find her. They may also be waiting to see what evidence they have connecting him to the other disappearances too, in order to better negotiate a plea. Who knows really, the hearing isn't until December so hopefully there is some progress made before then.
