Suddenly Im thinking about the movie Willard . |
OP, are you in the District? |
This happened to us last year in the AU Park/Friendship Heights area. A rat came in from the basement toilet despite the fact that we did use that toilet regularly. Do you own or rent? I also recommend engaging a reputable pest control company to evaluate your home and ensure that there are no other points of entry. Our experience demonstrated that rats are capable of entry from other points in the home. They will chew through exterior wooden doors and even compromised concrete/masonry. |
OMG!!!!!!! |
Op here. Thank you for the replies and support! I just about died! It is not in the basement but on the first floor. Brand new bathroom a few months ago and it is used a lot. I screamed and must have scared it and it jumped out! |
OP, there is no amount of freaking out about this that I would consider excessive.
I would tell you to burn the house down and salt the earth, but you just renovated. |
Yes Northwest. |
We don't hear of rats in Northern Virginia |
I had asked our plumber if rats ever come up and he said I didn't want to know the answer. Yuck. Now I know! |
That video just freaked me out!!!! This happened to us in our basement toilet. I just the dogs out as the rat got out of the toilet. May Stewart Little RIP. |
Huh? |
Lucky for the rat. |

At least you know you don't have snakes, OP. |
