I don't know if we are talking about the same vendor, but I was so excited to see cider donuts at the Sunday Bethesda market a few weeks back - and SO disappointed by them. They were dense and drizzled with syrup - seemed like they made a cinnamon cake donut (and a shoddy one at that) and then drizzled apple cider syrup over it. Nothing comparable to the cider donuts I used to get in Massachusetts. DH once brought back good ones from a farm stand way out in Virginia (somewhere on the road from Richmond), but I can't remember the name or exact location.
