Bedbugs are a problem there so be careful when you check into your room.
Robes are better than towels. That way, you and your kids can walk to your rooms a bit more comfortably after some time at the water park. The bedtime story thing is creepy but the kids like it. For a closeby (and yummy) dinner, go to Pierce's BBQ. If you make a right turn from GWL and drive a couple of miles, you will see it on the right. Great place for pulled pork sandwiches. It's been there forever and usually is packed but service is quick. Sit outside if the weather is nice. Get the JC special with slaw! YUMMY! | I think they solved the bedbug problem a couple of years ago. |
| Check reviews on Trip Advisor. Bedbugs are mentioned in a review from last year. |
| Agree that the food is terrible. 3 and 5 yo loved the slides and the kid camping suite. DH and I hated the place- but will probably go back because the kids liked the water park. We went to IHOP down the street for breakfast and into williamsburg for dinner- the old aberdeen barn was good and the kids liked the food. |
| Have to say as one who has never been there I am less inclined to go after reading these comments. |
If it's that glaringly obvious...why the advice? There could have been a specific problem. |

Did you know they are proposing building an indoor water park & conference center by Richmond, Va. No more trekking down to GWL.

| You can also go to Massanutten Water Park near Harrisonburg, VA. It is nice in the summer because it has an indoor and outdoor section. We rented a cabin by owner at vrbo and really liked it there. They also have skiing in the winter, and an adventure park in the summer. |
