Roll call: Who plans to send their kids to DCPS through graduation?

Nice to see so many people sounding hopeful about DCPS. My oldest is 4.5 so we're a long way from this decision but I find it encouraging what some of you are thinking. Thank you for sharing.

This is such a refreshing thread to read. I'm glad there are others out there who plan to use DCPS schools. We are hoping to get out of boundary into Oyster - Thompson - or Ross. Haven't given middle school much thought yet.

Two kids in boundry at Shepherd... Would have stuck it out through DCPS for elem, but are moving after this school year is up to FCPS.

The plan is Janney (note: Renovation plans may influence decision)
Deal
Latin PCS or private

My husband grew up playing lacrosse and played at the collegiate level. This is important to him and it is my understanding that none of the DC High Schools field a team. Assuming that my son is interested in playing lacrosse (he is only 3 so it is a bit before we get there), there are no DCPS High Schools that offer this. Latin plans to ... we will see.

2 kids, preschool/pre-k

Oyster (in boundary), Deal but maybe a charter? for middle, and School without Walls - or Banneker if one turns out to be a math genius. We're in boundary for Wilson, but it just seems really big and they've got the school within school stuff to work.

Ideally bilingual through high school would work best for us. We're already Spanish-English and currently the only option is private Washington Int'l. Unless Oyster goes all the way. sigh

Hi there-- are we going to by class parents together and are we already neigbhors? Oyster boundary is pretty compact.

One DD-- Oyster K (in boundaries) next year. Plan is Oyster-Adams through 8 or Deal 6-8, Then School Without Walls (DD already dances to her own drum), Wilson Academies, Banneker, or Ellington for high school. This depends upon what kind of learner she turns out to be, but I think that she'll learn anywhere. She loves any book she can get her hands are. Psyched for Spanish, and would consider WIS or Maret if she really wanted it, but we're pretty committed to DCPS on the way into the process.

New poster here - but my dd will be starting Oyster this fall as well!
We plan on Oyster through 5th grade, at least and then we'll see what happens! We're pretty open and a LOT can happen in the next 6/7 yrs.
