I'm following this.
http://www.amazon.com/The-Life-Changing-Magic-Tidying-Decluttering/dp/1607747308 Last night I went through my primary clothes closet and got rid of at least 2/3s of it. |
+1000 I've read a lot of org./decluttering books, and hers is by far the best. |
+1 got rid of 16 bags of clothes, household goods in two days. Read Peter Walsh, also good, however marie kondo's book really resonated and gave me the courage/confidence to thoroughly purge and let go of guilt Associated with decluttering things I no longer needed or found joy in. Highly recommended, my new "bible". |

Love flylady! And the nice thing is, everything you need to know is on the website. No need to spend money on a book- that would only add clutter to my house. ![]() |
Pp here. I also should have mentioned the psychological impact of the book. I agree with pp, her philosophy is what allowed me to get rid of items without guilt. |
Another Konmari fan here. I didn't follow her instructions to the letter, but I did carefully consider each piece and the impact it had or has on my life. It really helped me to unload a lot of stuff I was holding onto because of guilt. I also realized I don't need a stuffed closet because I can rewear my favorites without the worry I won't be able to do a wash (a throwback to college days and first-apartment days). We recently did some home renovations that eliminated the space where we used to stuff/store things, and it has helped us to really come to terms with the reality that if we don't have room for it, we don't need it. I found that for some items, it took two levels of consideration to discard or keep, and I was fine with that. |
